16-Year-Old Girl Killed, 21-Year-Old Man Wounded in Old Town Manassas Shooting

Manassas City Police are asking the public for help after a shooting Friday night killed a 16-year-old girl and wounded a 21-year-old man.

WHAT HAPPENED: Manassas City Police are investigating a shooting in Old Town Manassas that occurred while First Friday was underway.

VICTIMS: Police Chief Doug Keen said a 16-year-old female died and a 21-year-old male was taken to a Fairfax County hospital in serious but not life-threatening condition.

WHERE: Police said the shooting occurred near the railroad tracks, in the area of Foster’s Grille and the Manassas train depot.

POLICE REQUEST: Anyone who witnessed the shooting or has photos or video from the area is asked to contact police.

A 16-year-old girl was killed and a 21-year-old man wounded in a shooting in Old Town Manassas Friday night.

Police Chief Doug Keen said the shooting occurred near the railroad tracks in the area of Foster’s Grille and the Manassas train depot while First Friday was underway.

Keen said the 16-year-old victim was pronounced dead. The 21-year-old man was taken to a Fairfax County hospital in serious but not life-threatening condition.

Police had earlier clarified that the incident was not an officer-involved shooting.

Police Seek Public’s Help

Keen said approximately 10,000 people were in Old Town that evening.

“We know someone saw something,” Keen said.

He specifically asked parents whose children, including adult children, attended the event to speak with them about what they may have seen.

“If someone saw something, we need our community’s help to help identify the shooters involved in this incident,” Keen said.

Detective Tim Urey is assigned to the investigation.

Keen said the department also plans to place a QR code on its website and social-media channels allowing people to upload photographs and video from the evening directly to investigators.

Investigation Continues

The investigation remains active.

Police have not yet publicly released the identity of the 16-year-old victim, identified any suspects or provided information about what led to the shooting.
